Dixie McCormick

direct lender payday loans
7th-12th grades English Language Arts

Being a bit of a late bloomer, Mrs. Dixie McCormick didn’t go back to college until 2001 (at the age of 42).  After struggling with her dreaded Algebra course, she graduated cum laude from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 2006. She was fortunate to begin teaching in Grand Marais in September of that same year. She states, “I am not an individual who particularly enjoys a great deal of solitude (unless I have located a good book).  I am grateful for the positive energy my family and friends permit me to tap into.  Photography and writing allow me to feel creative, while hiking, snowshoeing, agate hunting and camping provide me with the chance to simply be a part of the greater existence.” For Dixie, the most important part of teaching is the connection with the kids. Grand Marais, with it’s small class sizes, allows her the opportunity to get to know the students as individuals.  She is absolutely certain that they give her more than she could ever hope to bestow upon them. But Grand Marais 7th-12th grade students know that she gives them a lot too!
